Lunch at Loong Foo.

I normally go for lunch at Salak Town when I am at work at KLIA. Salak town is about 10km from the South Support Zone of KLIA. It's one of the few restaurants (or eating place) close to work that offers chinese "tai chow". They offer pretty decent food but it can get boring if you eat there everyday. So yesterday after a long absence from work and at the same time I had my camera with me, I decided to join my friends for lunch there. During lunch this place is teeming with hungry non-muslim office and workers from the area nearby. I normally order the individual meals with rice and there is a wide variety there. The only problem is that with the variety, what to order?
My favourite order there is wild boar curry with rice or sometimes I order fish sauce chicken with long beans. However I didn't order that yesterday. I had "kung poh" venison with egg. It will be a few more weeks before I go back there again. Been eating here on and off for the past 7 years.

11 days old...

Today Isabel is 11 days old. We took her to the Klinik Kesihatan in Batu 14 Puchong for her follow up on her jaundice level. Today is her third visit to the clinic. Her reading was 6.4 down from 8.2 last Friday and 8.4 on her fist visit. So she was given a clean bill of health and no more visits to the clinic for jaundice.
Today we tried to put her into the car seat we bought. We found that she is too small and flexible for her to sit up straight. We had to hold her all the way to do our chores. Anyway she did not cry but only when she wanted milk she made some noise. She behaves well in the day time. Isabel only get cranky at night hence the parents sleepless nights...

What a NAME!!

Wonder why some shops do not attract customers? Is it the food? if it the location? or is it plain unlucky? I have to add one more reason why restaurants and cafe's do not attract customers, SIGN BOARDS!!! For heaven sakes have a decent name for your establishment! I recently found this place in Rawang which has a weird name for the coffee shop. See below. I personally never eaten there before but from the name of the place I don't think I will want to try. Not just yet...unless it's the last place on earth.
Taking a phrase off the Americans, "It's the sign board stupid!!!".

St.Jude's Church.

Was taking my mother-in-law home to Rawang this afternoon. Daphne Accompanied me. We decided to go the St.Jude's Church after my deed. This will be my second time to the Church. To my knowledge, my in-laws and the local Chinese in Rawang most of them had never been to this place. What a shame!!! Philistines!!!!
I understand this is the place where many miracles had happened when one prays to St.Jude. I am a non believer in religion but I do believe in all faiths and any religion hence this place should be preserved and kept as it is.
The grounds are kept clean and its very peaceful and serene here. Kudos! To the ground staff and it's gate keepers...I be back!!!

Curry Fish Head...

Was at SS19 Subang Jaya for dinner yesterday with the aunties and mum. My cousin suggest this place. I can't remember the name of the place now, its "something Curry Fish Head". Its the same row with the former Mc.D at the second last shop. Next the "tai Chow" coffee shop.
I was a fairy simple restaurant. Nothing grant, simple set up but tastefully arranged. The food was ok. Fairly simple, too small quantities in serving for my liking. The Nyonya style fish was my favourite. This place is recommended for small quantity, economical fair.

E-ru

Went to this vegetarian restaurant at Summit on the first day of CNY. My family takes a vegetarian diet for the day (well not all of us). So plans were made by my cousin to have a vegetarian meal for dinner. Didn't manage to take all photos of the servings. We had a 9 course chinese dinner. 2 additional dish were ordered to supplement the 9 course. The recommended were asam fish and butter prawn, however I did not manage to take a snap of them. They were gone in a flash.
I can't image these dishes were actually vegetarian. They taste a lot like the meat they represent. I wonder why people take so much trouble to make it look and taste like meat whilst it still vegetarian. I thought vegetarian food is suppose to be simple, clears one's soul and some what religious. Sounds hypocritical to me.
Anyway, the food was good, vegetarian or otherwise.

Bumbu Bali Part 2

Had a drive around Bumbu Bali in the afternoon to see if they are open. The second day of Chinese New Year, who knows maybe they are close for a few days. Saw them opening shop and cleaning, so made plans with my siblings and Daphne to dinner. Chinese New Year makan with among the siblings mah.....
So decided to sit upstairs this time. I was not dissapointed. The decor was cosy and fully Balinese. Its a nice place to have a few drinks and relax after work. My sister and I ordered the ayam bertutu and my brother and Daphne the seafood combo (I think, I can't remember). The sauce that comes with the servings was excellent. According to my sister Bumbu is actually Balinese for sambal...
Food was excellent, company was excellent, this place deserves other visits to try other fares.

Happy Chinese New Year 2007!!!

And I forgot to wish everyone,

Happy Chinese New Year!!! Gong Xi Fa Chai!!!!!

I survived the first night...almost...

Baby Yi Xin was discharged yesterday from the hospital in the afternoon. Her first day home was very eventful for her parents. Karen's still learning to cope with her breast feeding technique and I am learning to make formula milk. Karen is currently not producing milk in large quantites so the baby feeds for long periods of time. We finally gave up about 1 am in the morning and gave her formula milk. We found she sleeps longer with formula milk. Lucky that both my parents are here to help around the house with the cooking and cleaning.
One thing for sure our attention is directed to the crying, feeding and constant diaper checking (it's normal for new borns to pooh very little, I think.. I am struggling with all of the above task. And both of us are lacking in sleep. Came morning, I was so drowsy and Karens was exhausted but we survived...Almost....But after all that, all the baby got to do was smile and our fatigue goes away....

New Addition to the Family!!

Could not get the time to post during the last few days. On the 14th of February, we had our schedule check up with the gynaecologist. Decided to go in the evening. (the previous day my wife complained about some urine discharge, we thought nothing of it). Was told by the Dr.Vignes that the fluid is not urine but fluid from the water bag. As the water bag been leaking for more than 36 hours, the Dr. told us to go the SJMC immediately. Was there by 2150 hrs.

Dr.Vignes decided to give natural birth a try. The tried inducing birth at around 2200 hrs. Nothing much happen for the next few hours. Waited the whole night and Karen did not have any contractions at all! The machine that measure her pressure showed only mild contractions.

So it was decided around 7 am that a Ceasarian section was to be preformed at the water bag was leaking for more than 48 hours already. The baby might get lung infection if that it's not taken out soon.

So Karen was prepared by the hospital staff. She was pushed to the main operating theatre at 830 am for a scheduled 930 am ceaserian. I was very anxious during the wait. Never so anxious in my life. There were several father's also waiting like me at the room. All anxious fathers.

By 1005 am I was told that I had a new born baby girl. Wow! Suddenly, I am a father already. Sure is difficult to comprehen for a while. But my little Princess was born. and we are proud parents of a 3.1 kg girl.

Back to work.

Today was my first day at work after a long leave of absence. Surprisingly, my chair is still where it should be. Came back to loads of work. The whole day was spent clearing back logs and carrying out current issues. Got some new changes at work and new stories, can't wait to get fully updated.
Told the boss I will be on 1 week leave for CNY next week. Yeah!!! On holiday again.. And I took Thursday and Friday off also for doctors appointment for Karen and myself. Looks like it going to be a short working week for me again. Unable to plan more leave after the CNY week as baby is not here yet. All leave plans after that will be dependant on when the baby is arriving.
I guess I shall stop here for now. Maybe sometime this week I will have more intersting things to blog about...

SS19 Pasar Malam.

Finally I went to the SS19 Subang Jaya Pasar Malam this evening. Always wanted to go there since we moved to SJ but never somehow put it into our itinerary. After my evening swim today we decided to drop by the pasar malam. Spent only a short time there because had made prior arrangements for dinner. I shall be back for a longer visit next time.

Always wondered what is this. I have seen this in the SS2 pasar malam also. Looks like some roasted pork. I must try it one day but not today.
