Hoi Kee Melaka.

Last week I took two days leave to go to Melaka for a family out thing. We didn't know anyone there so we had a dilemma.... Where to eat? After checking into the hotel, drove around in the evening to look for food. We ended up at the Ujung Pasir Portuguese settlement but there wasn't anything interesting there. Maybe because it was a Monday. So drove back into Melaka town arrived at Melaka Raya. After a few restaurants we scouted we finally out of hunger ended up at a coffee shop near the hotel. It was a typical Chinese tai chau.
With my limited mandarin, I asked whether they had seafood i.e. crabs. My wife was craving for it and Yes they did. I also asked if they had any other specialties, they recommended the herbal soup lamb. With that we ordered blacked peppered crab, kung pao frog legs and some greens. Maybe because it was a Monday evening there was not much of a crowd (not like K.L. standards) so We didn't think much of th food but to out surprise it was pretty good. I especially love the frog legs as they added some dried squid into it. The crab too was good as it was spicy and had some element of curry flavour in it. The herbal lamb was just o.k.. Maybe because lamb doesn't really go well with the herbs as they claim but it does produced some heat in my body after eating it. Maybe if we were in winter it would be different. All in all the bill came out to be RM70+ odd. We were lucky that we stumbled at this place. One indication that we thought it was it was a popular place was that they had numerous staff working that night even though they didn't have a crowd, I think they are busy during the weekends.
