RM15 Curry Mee.

This must be one of the most expensive curry mee I had taken in my life from a coffee shop. Of course this discounts the one I had in hotels, restaurants and cafes. I read this at masak-masak blog sometime back and never made it to USJ 2 after that but last weekend after the wife came back from work and she wanted curry mee (I guess 1 week in Rome made her craving for some spice), I decided why not give it a try. Went there during breakfast over the weekend.
The seafood curry mee comes with la la, large prawns, squid and fish cakes. Didn't have much of the noodles as my wife was finishing it but the curry broth tasted pretty good and very aromatic. I definitely will try it again next time but only for the normal bowl. I think RM15 cost too much for a bowl of seafood curry mee at a normal chinese coffee shop.
I personally had the Ipoh 'Ho Fun' neither good or bad. The really bad was that its such a small bowl cost me RM4.50. Prices of food here is really expensive. I think I will only be back after sometime.

Tim Sum at Genting.

On the final morning in Genting, had tim sum at the Good Friend's restaurant at Hotel genting. I wonder why they it that. Must be something to do with gambling and lending money from friend's when all is lost I guess. It was tasted pretty decent. I remembered that whenever I am here with some family members we always go to the Coffee terrance and this restaurant for our meals. It seems to be an automatic thing. I wonder maybe in my mind its the most family orientated place here. Took a few snaps of what we had, nothing special but the ambience and temperature makes it unique here.

Cuppuccino Popcorn.

While walking at resort world, I pass a small crowd at peering thru a glass window looking at something. I was curious myself and this is what I found. The largest pot of popcorn I seen in my life. There were a few dudes stirring this big pot with a large ladel. The sign says Cappuccino Popcorn. Didn't try it but looked interesting.

Genting Terrace House Buffet.

Spent the weekend at Genting Highlands with the family. Needed to get away from all the work and schedule I been having for the last few months. Managed to get a room at the First World Hotel at no charge from a friend. The wife visited the casino whilst i had a look around the place. For dinner, we when to Hotel Genting at the coffee house for a buffet. I has one of the largest spread of buffet I seen around town. The food was good too. My wife and I mainly concentrated on the Japanese buffet, sushi and tempura.
What I enjoyed was that they had a chef stir frying the green leafy vegetables on the spot for you. It was real tasty.

Ten Tien Fatt.

Prior making a move to Genting, we had lunch here at this coffee shop at USJ. I seldom have economy rice but the "chap fan" here is very tasty. I had it onces before a few weeks ago and it was good. the spread and choices for the dishes were ample. Wife ordered the chicken rice, nothing fanstastic there but definitaly I will come back for the 'chap fan'.

Kiwi Express Bandar Puteri.

Yesterday evening decided to drive to Taipan Subang Jaya to look for some Japanese food. The wife and I wanted some light food. Was told by a friend that there was some Japanese restaurant there that offers some nice food. After circling for a few rounds at the square, we could find any Japanese restaurant. So off we went to Bandar Puteri Puchong to look for some other restaurant. Wanted to go for some Shabu Shabu near the Citibank but there was no parking, made a detour to the Bumbu Bali side. Finally show a Japanese Ala Carte restaurant. Had to look around and the menu, there was no one inside. My wife and I made it a point that if the restaurant is empty we don't visit it.
We got fed up of driving around and across the road from this Japanese place we saw Kiwi Express. So decided to go in. First impression was that the decour does not match the type of fancy restaurant setting. For a Kiwi place, they had some Balinese water fountain in this place. I wonder why????But if the term 'express' means fast food, then the price is a bit steep to be any fast food.
We ordered the set meals that comes with soup of the day, mains and dessert or coffee or tea. I ordered the Corden Bleu Chicken and while the wife the seafood combo. After my experience at Look Out Point, I had developed a phobia for seafoods at untested eateries. Sure enough the fish fillet was undercooked. Had to return it to be recooked. But it had that extremely fishy taste. I had one bite that about it. We didn't eat the fish fillet even when they changed it. The prawns were not fresh. Somehow this makes me more worried about sea food combos. However the Chicken was nice. It comes served with potatoes mixed with onions and fried onions decor on the sides. The chicken was not a dissapointment.
The night turned out to be rather interesting. From look for Japanese food and ended up with western and some bad sea food. Would I return? I think twice unless there is some one who really wants to go.

Just Thai.

We went to this place a couple of weeks ago but I just didn't have the time to post it due to computer problems. It was at this Thai restaurant at 1 Utama new wing. I had some dissapointing Thai food two weeks back at IOI mall so I was abit apprehensive about going for Thai again. But since it was at 1 Utama, I thought what the heck. A reputable place will have lots of patrons and this place was packed. We had to wait to be seated. Luckly we brought our pram for little Isabel to sleep in.

The set up of the place was nice and cosy. I always wondered shy nice restaurants keep thier lighting low. Maybe it because that they don't want us to see thier food clearly whilst we eat it? I ordered the Typical Thai fair, tomyam with pineapple rice and pandan leave wrapped chicken.

It was ok. Definately will go back again for the ambience.

Manhattan Fish Market.

Had not been to Subang Parade for a while now. They did some modification to the outlook of the place. Carpetted walk ways brighter settings. Look like they were trying to make it a bit up market mall for shoppers. I think they only partially succeeded as the retail mix of the place remains more or less the same. But I think it good becoz the high end retail outlets will be charging exhorbitant prices.

Anyway, decided to visit this eatery. I have been here before some years back and I remember the food was good and the portions reasonably large. But theres nothing compared to Tony Romas, everyone else looks small after going there. We ordered the seafood chowder, the Manhattan's ceaser salad and the mix seafood platter for two. I personally love the seafood chowder but my wife thinks its not so tasty.
The main course as usual, typical Manhattan style using the flame burner heating it up leaving a slight after taste of the burnt fuel. I always wondered doing it this why will it improve the taste. It was a good evening, good food with reasonable proportions at reasonable prices.

Tony Romas.

Not been to Sunway Pyramid for ages. My wife wanted a nice proper dinner setting for my birthday so off we went there. We were deciding on a place hence this place two floors above the skating ring. I heard so much about this place. The food comes in huge portions, I could finish my order and had to have a doggy bag.

We started with the onion loaf that was nice. Onions nicely packed into a round circle. Tasted somewhat like onion rings to me. I ordered the Swiss beef cheese sandwich (I think) and the misses had the Romas ribs combo. The sandwich came with a grilled slices of bread that was not the standard size that we can get outside. I particularly loved the ribs as it was tender and juicy.

Overall it was a good experience with a fantastic setting. The service was above excellence and would definately revisit this place again.

Korean.

I seldom have korean food so dinner the other day was a no brainer when we were at Puchong and we saw this Korean restaurant. It some BBQ thingy that had this long funnel that protrudes out from the roof of the restaurant. I am so new with Korean food that I can't even remember the names of what we ordered. It was a refreshing change from the normaly setting and the side dishes were refilled FOC. Countrary to my own believe, it didn't look anything like Japanese food. Korean food seem to have more sour and pickled vegetable on offer.
Anyway had a good time and I came home smelling like a been to a BBQ with all the some accumulated in the restaurant.

Kenny Rogers.

I was thinking of what to have for dinner and thought of my good friend la. Need to eat some and write about this fanfastic chicken that I heard so much about.... So went to the closest rooste chicken in Puchong, Kenny Rogers IOI two days ago. Wasn't that hungry so ordered half a chicken and shared it with the misses. Also ordered the ceaser salad too. I must say the ceasar salad was tasty. The dressing was just right, not too heavy or not to dry. Was pricey thought. One of the finer points of the serving was that they come with a generous helping of gravy which I always enjoy. And Jen if you are reading this...when are you buying me the nest Kenny Rogers meal???

Nando's.

Was at Nando's recently. Wasn't my idea but Karen's. She seem to love Nanado's chicken so much. Must been one of her trips to South Africa. This time I didn't order the chicken just the chicken burger. Hot!!! I must say the burger didn't taste like any fast food burger I had. Must have been the loaf. The loaf was definately memorable. Hard on the outside and yet soft inside, like all western breads. Will try this again but maybe with the beef steak in it.

Esquire kitchen Puchong.

Was at Tesco, Puchong yesterday afternoon shopping. Was shopping around for food too. Didn't have breakfast so was very humgry during lunch time. Some how the food outlets there don't appeal to me. I hve not been to an eatery ther that has something good to offer. Walk past the Esquire kitchen. Had not been to this outlet before and not been to Esquire Kitchen for many years now. I wondered why??
Anyway my wife and I walked in. They had the sets available so we ordered the curry chicken noodles for myself, "char cheong mien" my wife ordered and a place of fried wantan.
The food was pretty decent, not great and pass able fair. This place offering comes with their small plates with the restaurant feeling with average priced food.
Had a quick lunch and maybe will be return anytime soon. Not because the food was bad but because it's not memorable.
