Ventured out to a construction site opposite my place this evening. I been noticing some exacavation work going on on the area so Karen and I decided to venture there to have a look. To our surprise there is a small existing lake there. We saw some birds, big ones too. I think I saw a white stock, a Kingfisher and some blue bird. Due to development, the lake is being covered to make way for future sites for new houses. I had a look into the lake found some fishes too, maybe that why there were birds there. What a shame that nature had to make way for nature at this place...
Maybe this will be the last time my wife and I will venture into this place before houses are contructed. At least I manage to see the lake before it was reclaimed.

Bukit Kuchai Pasar Malam.

Was wondering where to go for dinner in the evening with the wife. Since my long soujorn at home both of us realised that we had eaten at almost every place (well places that suited us anyway) we can think of or recommended by friends near our area where we live. I suddenly thought of the time where I had to change my car tyre at this place at Puchong, remembered the owner telling me about pasar malam on that day. Zoom!!! Off we went looking for this place. Found it quite easily. It was a very large pasar malam, in fact one of the biggest I seen in P.J.
One thing I liked about this pasar malam is that it has a fair mix of Chinese, Malay and Indian traders. This I believe give fair opportunites for all to do business.
Anyway back to the pasar malam, after all the normaly grocery shopping, we decided on the ayam percik, satay and fried kuey teow for dinner. Bungkus all and bring to makan la... Somehow I could not get a fairly decent photo of the ayam percik at the stall for that matter most of the stall at the pasar malam. Maybe my hands were shaking (camera on manual with high exposure) or maybe the stall owner jampi me already. Anyway the ayam percik was pretty much tasteless. Not recommended for my taste. The fried Kuey teow and satay were ok, passable.
This will not be my last visit to this pasar malam. Very interesting and it has a wide variety of provisions that suits most. Price also CHEAP!!!! Remember passing a stall selling vegetable for only RM1 for 3 bundles!!! Imagine ordering a plate of vegetables at the restaurant costing RM8 to RM10 per plate were the vegetable only cost less than RM1 at the market.

Prelude to CNY.

Had the traditional "Sau Kung" CNY makan with the office colleagues this afternoon. This lunch is normally organised by my office prior to CNY. Even though I was on MC I went anyway. Onces a year mah!!! The lunch venue was at Choong Foong, Kampung Subang. This restaurant is a famous haunt for MAS staff working around the Subang Airport area as it provides reasonable food at reasonable prices. I seldom go there now as I am based elsewhere but still go there on occasions like this where there is something to celebrate.
What is "Sau Kong" lunch? I am not certain myself but if I am not wrong it is suppose to be the last big feast for workers to have among friends and working colleagues prior to leaving for the long CNY holidays. This event probably was a tradition in China which was followed here I guess.
We had a 8 course lunch with dessert at the end. We had about 20 people booked for lunch at 1230 pm but due to overwelling customers that was at that place for lunch our food only came around 145 pm. Sorry unable to take any photos of the food as it was finished the moment it
reached the table. Do not stand in the way of hungry men!! Unfortunately, there was no "Yee Shang" this year as it is only available tomorrow by the restautant.
Anyway believe me it was a scrumptious lunch especially the roasted suckling pig!!!!!

2nd Wedding Aniversary.

Today is our 2nd wedding aniversary. Or rather the official one in the eyes of the law anyway. Karen and I got registered officially as a wedded couple today 2 years ago at the National Registration in Shah Alam. What to do on this aniversary? Especially when both of us are still waiting at home for the baby to come? I didn't buy her any present. Decided to give her an "ang pow" la... Cash always the easiest and it makes her happy. Me not very romantic la...
As wife has been bored for the past 3 weeks waiting at home (the doctor keep telling us the baby will be born next week, now my 3 weeks MC is almost up) I decided to bring her a bit further than Subang Jaya or Puchong. Went to 1 Utama. Has lunch, walked around, took some pictures, had a look around the rain forest. Man! There were loads of fish there. Japanese Carps and local ones too. Been sometime since I was at 1 Utama, and it has changed so much even though the layout is the same but there so many people. Never knew so many people goes there during office hours on a week day.

Went to Syabu Syabu in Puchong for dinner in the evening. We were comtemplating on where to go for dinner as we were deciding to have something light and on the healthy side. Hence Japanese Syabu Syabu came to mind. This was our first time being there. First time for me having Syabu Syabu, to me it looked like Steam Boat Japanese style. Currently, there is a buffet promotion an all you can eat thingy going on but we decide to have the ala carte. Fairly typical choices of meat and vegetables. We ordered something that looked yam fritters (I presume). All in all it wasn't too bad. The total bill came to RM29 for two. Sure beats having the Fat man street vendor steamboat by the side of the road.

Bumbu Bali...

Was at Bumbu Bali, Puchong for dinner with the wife today. My first time eating there but my wife been thee before with some of her friends. I ordered a apple soda and chicken and beef combo whilst my wife ordered the Balinese Nasi Campur. My favourite was the beef rendang found in the nasi campur. It was sweet and tender unlike any I have tasted before. My chicken and beef combo was above average as it tasted like any western palete that you can order almost anywhere.
The decor of the place too was fantastic. We sat on the ground floor but it felt very cosy and homey. Don;t know about the first floor as I did not venture upstairs. Maybe next time as I notice beers were brought from upstairs to downstairs when ordered. Maybe there is a bar or alcohol is only poured on the first floor.
This place is definately worth a second visit and I shall try the other more authentic Balinese fair next time which I think will be a more savoury decision.

Loads of activity today. Went to Jenny's place in the afternoon. Saw her baby. She was three months old. Craddled her for a while. It was fun and also terrifying as I thought I could hurt the baby. She so small.. Anyway good practice for me until my baby comes. Should be soon I hope.

When for swim in the evening at Daphne's apartment. Decided against going to 3K as I wanted to learning my free style stroke without anyone disturbing my rhythm. Didn't get much learning tonight as I kept on "drinking water". Stopped after half and hour.


Anyway adjourn to dinner at Ming Tien next to Sunway Pyramid. I had the Taiwan Fried Chicken with white rice, Daphne had the Sarawal Noodles and Karen the Tang Hoon with soup. I didn't manage to get a photo of the Sarawak Noodles as Daphne goobled up the whole whole before I could get the camera out. She was one hungry girl tonight. Anyway the food was fair, nothing to shout about but it was not horrible either. Not been to Ming Tien for sometime now but looks like business is still good. Maybe the presents of the Pyramid and Colleges around to drive thier business.

Wedding & The Shah Alam Mosque.

Was at a Malay wedding on Sunday. It was one of my companies bosses son's wedding. I only got an invitation thru the E-mail and it only says at MBSA Banquet Hall. I initially went to a different MBSA hall (thinking confidently that it was the right place) where another wedding was going on. As I entered, unable to recognise anyone, I decided to ask around for persons name and I found out I was at the wrong wedding. What an embrassment!!! Luckily I didn't give my contribution to the groom when I entered the hall. I found out only then that there were more than one MBSA hall.

Finally decided to call one of my friends ask if he was going and I decided to follow him and his mother-in-law. And finally I got to the right place. It was at Wisma MBSA!!! And I was late...Well not that late, as I was leaving some others too was coming.
With all that running around looking for the place I didn't manage to get many photos of the ceremony but I had a great view of the Shah Alam Mosque. I took a few shots of the mosque. I must say it is comparable to the Blue Mosque built in Istanbul. Magnificant!!

A scheduled visit to the gynae today with the wife in the morning. Dr. says if baby not here yet by next week, he will induce my wife to go into labour. Maybe I should start choosing a date for the baby to be delivered. The Dr. thinks this should be done before the long holidays during CNY as Karen's official due date is on the 15 Feb. He is of the opinion that by waiting too long the placenta might shut down. Anyway, he says there are two schools of thought on this matter but he is the one that does not like to let the pregnancy go beyond the due date. I leave it to his safe hands....

Today my god daughter aka Raveena came and visit me. THis is the first time she came to my house. Not seen her for sometime now and boy she has grown. It was like only yesterday that she was born la.. She almost 5 now and attending kindy...

Later in the evening i decided to take a shot at the moon. It was a full moon but due to the limited capacity of my camera only had my best shot below. It was the 15 of the month as per the Chinese lunar calender. Another 2 weeks to go for Chinese New Year.

I took a picture of the Komplek 3K where I go for my swim today. Just for fun. tried to do the free style today, it ended in disaster. Drank so much water. Shall try tomorrow again. Managed to go for a swim everyday this week. Trying to get in as much work out i can before i get too busy to do so. After today's swim work out, I had KFC. There goes my work out.

In the evening, I decided to go for a walk at the hill behind my house. Actually my wife and I could not finish the enormous bunch of bananas given to us by our neighbours. The bananas were not to my taste and they didn't shape like ordinary bananas. So I decided to give the bananas to the monkey that live in that hill. I sprayed myself with mosquito repellent and started my accend with the bananas in one hand and my camera and binoculars on the other. Boy! The mosquito repellent didn't work like it says in the bottle. I was bitten all over my legs ( I was wearing shorts). Had to spray some more on my legs and hands before the mosquitoes decided to retreat for a short spell. Managed to get on top of the hill, there are two transmitting towers there, one belonging to TM and the other Digi. A Hindu temple sits between the two towers.

Saw loads of monkeys, however they were shying away from humans. So I decided to leave the bananas on the ground and observe from a distance. Took some video footage too and some shots of the monkeys. As I found out, taking footage of animals takes lots of patiences and distance. I do appreciate the Animal Planet on ASTRO more now since I had to wait an whole hour to coax the monkeys to have my unwanted bananas.

To cut the long story short. The monkeys finally came and took all the bananas away. I had a few video shots and pictures taken. I think animal and human both went away happy. And I had loads of mosquito bites. I hope they are not denggi carries.

Late Dinner..

Decided to go to Carrefour Subang Jaya in the afternoon for some shopping after my swim at 3K. Me and my wife stumbled upon a LG 29" CTV on sale RM 799. My wife wanted it... Aiyaaa!!! had to buy la... there goes my extra money for savings this month (as if i had any savings in the first place)... The saleman took my phone number and he will call onces there is available stock.. hope he doesn't call..He! He! He!..

Anyway had a late dinner at big plate located at Kampung Melayu Subang in Shah Alam. The last time I was there was more than 10 years ago. The place now as expanded and now occupies 3 shops. They only had tow shops as I remembered correctly. Ordered the Langkawi Chowder, Big Plate Steaks and the Salmon. Boy!! The servings were huge. The Langkawi chowder was serve into a bread bun. I was surprise that the chowder didn't leak out. The mains comes with a generous serving of sides dishes of vegetables and potatoes with lots of gravy. My wife and I had a scrumpcious meal. It will be difficult to sleep with this large dinner in our stomachs.

Was at Ikea for dinner today with the wife. I had the beef meatballs and she had the spaghetti balognese. Not too bad if you like beef (I eat almost anything). It has the pure meaty taste, no spices or other condiments added into it. The spaghetti was ok. I tasted pretty normal to me. Both the servings were very generous, the meat balls comes in 10s or 15s in case you were wondering.

Picturistic Day!!!

It all started when i decided to bring my digital camera out today. I ended up taking a few pictures of my meal and around town. I also started to swim today as part of my rehabilitation after my operation. Went to Komplek 3K in the afternoon. I must say its been a long time since i last swam or exercise, I was out of breathe!!! I shall try to go everyday as I am free till next week.

My first picture was when i took my wife to the clinic desa for a routine check-up in Puchong. Nope baby not due yet. My wife is still not complaining of any pain yet. just a waiting game for us now.

Later we had lunch at Gaint in USJ. My favourite Teow Chew Chendol was my take for the afternoon. Seriously, this is one of the better cendols I had in K.L. or P.J. except for the ones you get in Penang. Its a bit too sweet but the coconut milk is not too rich and the balance is just nice. Highly recommended.

Later in the evening, we decided to take a drive to IJN where my boss was warded. He will be having a heart bypass this coming Wednesday. I took this picture of the twin towers while on the way there. Been passing the towers for years but this is the first time I actually took a snap of it.

After IJN, then to Sunway Pyramid. My wife wanted to see the street lighted up at night. Had a few shots of the street. Its more impressive when you there in person.
